CHANGES COMING IN OCTOBER 2025:
Starting from 22 October 2025, DNV will launch a new version of the Database and take over the sales operations for the product. The current version of IMO-Vega will be available until 31 October 2026; however, no further content updates will be made after 15 May 2025. As part of this streamlined approach, DNV will transition to a direct-to-end-user sales model for the new IMO-Vega Database.
Here are some key details about the transition:
- New pricing and conditions: Starting 22 October 2025, the annual subscription price for the Database will be £2,300. A direct link for future purchases by end users will be shared closer to the launch date.
- Renewals: Customers due for renewal by 15 October 2025 can continue the renewal process at the current subscription price of £700. These subscriptions will remain valid for one year and include access to the new Database for the duration of their subscription at no additional cost. All subscriptions purchased must be assigned by 15 October 2025.
- Post 15 October renewals: Customers whose renewals fall on or after 15 October 2025 will need to renew directly with DNV at the new pricing.
In the coming months, we will provide additional details, including guidance on how to contact DNV for subscription purchases.
Renewals - further details: IMO Vega has always been updated twice a year, in Spring and Autumn. Therefore, once it is updated in May there will not be a new update until it goes live on to the new system. The end user will not miss any updates, because the subscriptions running past the 22nd of October will be added to the new site for the reminder of the subscription. DNV or IMO will be in touch directly about the access to the new site when the time comes. You can renew the subscription until 15th October for the old price with us, but after that date, you will need to renew directly with the DNV for the new price. Any subscriptions renewed for the old price will start no later than on the 15thof October. Please be mindful that this is a current information which might be updated in the future.
Users will need to move to the new IMO Vega if they want to get the next update, although IMO version( Virtual Publications website) will remain active until 2026 it will not include the Autumn amendments. It is in the customer’s best interest to use the new IMO Vega from October 2025 onwards.
This is a yearly subscription to the IMO-Vega Database. A single license gives one user access from any location with internet access. After your purchase we will send you an email with login details to your IMO Virtual Publications account where you will be able to access your subscription. The subscription is linked to an email address and you will need to confirm this address. You can contact us directly on [email protected].
This is a yearly subscription to the IMO-Vega Database.
IIMO-Vega is an essential tool for anyone involved in shipping: shipowners and operators, shipbuilders, classification societies, casualty investigators, governments, insurers and underwriters, port authorities, surveyors and many others.
The IMO-Vega Database, developed jointly by IMO and Det Norske Veritas (DNV GL AS), puts all the necessary information at your fingertips. Given year of build, ship type, ship size, cargo, trade area and flag, IMO-Vega will quickly identify the requirements applicable to the ship in question.
Unlike other, similar products, IMO-Vega contains historical data including regulations which have been superseded. In the context of Port State Control, for example, access to the correct historical regulations is essential.
The IMO-Vega subscription includes up-to-date texts, with all amendments adopted up to October 2424, of the following IMO requirements:
- 1974 SOLAS Convention, including 1978 and 1988 Protocols and all amendments
- 1966 Load Lines Convention, including 1988 and 2003 Protocols
- MARPOL , including all amendments
- 1978 and 1995 STCW Convention and Code, with amendments
- 1972 Collision Regulations
- 1969 Tonnage Convention
- 2004 Ballast Water Management Convention
- International Bulk Chemical (IBC) Code, with amendments
- International Gas Carrier (IGC) Code, with amendments
- International Safety Management (ISM) Code
- International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code
- International Code of Safety for High-Speed Craft (HSC Code) 1994 and 2000
- Code of Safe Practice for Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC)
- International Grain Code
- Code of Safe Practice for Cargo Stowage and Securing (CSS), as amended
- Code of Safe Practice for Ships Carrying Timber Deck Cargoes, as amended
- International Code of Signals
- International Life-Saving Appliance (LSA) Code
- MLC Maritime Labour Conventions
- International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation (OPRC), 1990

- Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships, 2009
- IAMSAR Manual: Volumes I, II and III
- International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code.
Whereas only the most known requirements are listed above, the database also contains most safety-related documents issued by IMO such as circulars, resolutions, etc.
