IMO/UNEP Guidelines on Oil Spill Dispersant Application including Environmental Considerations, 1995 Edition

The Guidelines provide up-to-date information on the use of oil spill dispersants. They are intended primarily for use by Member Governments and other oil spill responders and should be read with the Manual on Oil Pollution, section IV: Combating Oil Spills. The present edition of these Guidelines supersedes the 1982 edition.

A first draft version of the text was presented to the thirty-fifth session (March 1994) of IMO's Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) by the Government of France, acting through the Centre de documentation de recherche et d'expérimentations sur les pollutions accidentelles des eaux (CEDRE). A workshop was subsequently held in Brest (France). The resulting document was considered and approved at the thirty-sixth session (October/November 1994) of the MEPC.

    IMO E-reader (EBK)

The IMO Bookshelf is a Windows-only software and MACs are not supported. Mac users will need to use a Windows emulator (e.g., Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop) to view the files.

This IMO digital publication (e-reader) is in EBK format for use on a single computer/laptop with Windows-based e-reader software, "The IMO Bookshelf". If you don't already have this software installed on your computer, it can be downloaded free of charge here:www.imo.org/en/Publications/Pages/Bookshelf.aspx. You may print 10% of the text (approx. a chapter) at a time from a single title with a maximum of 75 pages per day across all titles (not pdf).

The e-reader is registered to an email address, and you will need to confirm it. You can contact us directly at books@ms-sc.org. All e-readers are locked to a single computer. After your purchase, we will send you an email with login details to your IMO Virtual Publications account, where all your downloads will be available.

An important feature of the IMO Bookshelf e-reader software enables users to uninstall a license from one computer and reinstall it on another computer. Important: You must uninstall the license from the old computer before attempting to reinstall it on another machine! Please find step by step instructions here.

An IMO Publishing e-reader is fully bookmarked, indexed and presented in an ebk file format which is viewed using the free software "The IMO Bookshelf". The e-reader is a replica of the printed title. E-readers are available for major titles in English with some in French and Spanish.
