Stories of times at sea on tankers of Caltex and Texaco have been put together in an anthology Lone Star of the Red Ensign. The stories are told in their own words by those who lived them. They are linked together by Terry Nunn who uses them to tell the history of Caltex and Texaco from the foundation in 1950 with wartime T2s through to 1995.

There are tales of the T2s to very large crude carriers; ports from Pembroke to many calls at Saigon during the Vietnam War are all featured from the many contributors with amusing stories such as one about Bob Hope with additional anecdotes of working ashore.

Throughout the book’s 180 pages are many illustrations of the ships, people and ports. Terry Nunn introduces the book by telling about himself and how the book came to be written. It concludes with Final Thoughts provided by Brian Goodland, former Managing Director of Texaco Overseas Tankship Ltd.
