    GMDSS Manual 2019


    The GMDSS Manual provides, in a single comprehensive publication, an explanation of the principles upon which the GMDSS is based, the radio communication requirements and recommendations for its implementation, the operational performance standards and technical specifications to be met by GMDSS equipment, and the procedures for and method of operation of the various radio services which form the GMDSS and the Master Plan for the GMDSS.

    The Manual is intended for use by ship personnel, shore operators, trainers, administrations, regulators and anyone else concerned with ship communication.

    IMO E-reader (EBK)

    The IMO Bookshelf is a Windows-only software and MACs are not supported. Mac users will need to use a Windows emulator (e.g., Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop) to view the files.

    This IMO digital publication (e-reader) is in EBK format for use on a single computer/laptop with Windows-based e-reader software, "The IMO Bookshelf". If you don't already have this software installed on your computer, it can be downloaded free of charge here:www.imo.org/en/Publications/Pages/Bookshelf.aspx. You may print 10% of the text (approx. a chapter) at a time from a single title with a maximum of 75 pages per day across all titles (not pdf).

    An important feature of the IMO Bookshelf e-reader software enables users to uninstall a license from one computer and reinstall it on another computer. Important: You must uninstall the license from the old computer before attempting to reinstall it on another machine! Please find step by step instructions here.

    An IMO Publishing e-reader is fully bookmarked, indexed and presented in an ebk file format which is viewed using the free software "The IMO Bookshelf". The e-reader is a replica of the printed title. E-readers are available for major titles in English with some in French and Spanish.
