Marine Society Minimum Course Requirements

- Minimum requirements to study an AS or A Level is 5 GCSE grades A*-C including English and Maths

- Minimum requirements for A Level Maths is GCSE Maths grade B plus 4 GCSE grades A*-C including English

- Minimum requirements for A Level Biology is GCSE Biology or Double Science grade C plus 4 GCSE grades A*-C including English and Maths.

 

Hours of study

The guide below is based on the length of time that colleges generally allocate for teaching and learning for the courses listed. Some learners will take a bit longer and some will move through the work at a greater pace. Calculations assume at least 35 weeks of study per year:

One A level will take a minimum of 10 hours per week for two years (70 weeks X 10 hours = 700 hours)

 

A Levels are available for examination in the summer exam series in May/June each year.

AS Level is a separate qualification to A Level, and marks cannot be carried over towards a Full A Level.
